bats at halloween

The Wapello County Conservation Board is continuing to follow the recommendations of federal, state and local government in keeping our facilities closed to the public. On recommendation of the governor, our facilities will remain closed until at least May 15. Staff currently continue to be in the office to answer phone calls and e-mails, and also continue to practice land management at our areas. We will keep you informed as things change. The trails at all parks remain open for hiking. With the wet trails, the trails remain closed to horses and bicycles at this time, but we are hoping for a few more good drying days so we can re-0pen them.

Here is a list of the facilities currently closed to the public at this time:

  • Nature Center
  • Cabins
  • Campground
  • Shelters (Haybarn and Pond Side)
  • Restroom and shower facilities

Here are the things open to the public:

  • Trails for hiking only at this time
  • Ponds for fishing
  • Hunting areas are still available for hunting

Thank you for your understanding during this time. Get out to one of our natural areas and witness the natural renewal of spring in action.
